I was born and raised outside of Munich, Germany, where my mother taught at the Munich International School and my father, a political refugee from communist Bulgaria, worked as a broadcast journalist for Radio Free Europe. After attending the Munich International School, I went to university in the U.K. and received a BA in Sociology from the University of York. Eventually I found my way to New York and completed an MA in English Literature at Brooklyn College. I’ve worked as a book scouting intern, an elementary school teacher, a private German tutor, and a personal editorial assistant. I was selected as a finalist for the Goethe Institute’s Gutekunst Translation Prize (German to English). Exile in Orbit is my first publication; it won ND/SA’s annual competition for first chapbooks by NYC poets. I live in Brooklyn with my husband, Sam, and my son, Niko.
