About

I was born in Munich, Germany, and raised in a little village farther south, by Lake Starnberg. My mother taught at the Munich International School and my father, a political refugee from communist Bulgaria, worked as a broadcast journalist for Radio Free Europe. After attending the Munich International School, I went to university in the U.K. and received a BA in Sociology from the University of York. Eventually I found my way to New York and completed an MA in English Literature at Brooklyn College. I’ve worked as a book scouting intern, an international school teacher, a private German tutor, and a personal editorial assistant. I was selected as a finalist for the Goethe-Institut New York’s Gutekunst Translation Prize (German to English). Exile in Orbit is my first publication; it won ND/SA’s annual competition for first chapbooks by NYC poets. After twelve years in Brooklyn, I recently returned to my Bavarian hometown with my husband, Sam, and my son, Niko.
